Post 20a: Film Language - Lighting

As a group we looked at how lighting can be used in different ways and from  specific angles to help enhance certain elements of objects, which is shown in the skull video but  in films, would be used to add more intensity and to highlight main elements and characters. We completed this short video to experiment and get a wider understanding of the various lighting techniques work, for example we looked at front lighting which lit up the whole object , back lighting which created a  three dimensional effect, and the effect shown from moving the light close to and away from object which changed the intensity of the piece .

In summary, this task did not influence my short film, as was no official use for artificial lighting, at any point in my short as a majority of the piece is set outdoors, also typically in drama films artificial lighting is deemed as a distraction to the audience and affects the realism of the drama piece.
